Get the Celeb Look: How to Get Their Style
From gorgeous ponytails to chic topknots, our beloved celebrity hairstyles have always been a big source of hair inspiration. We talked to our favorite celeb stylist, Dominik Mager (of his own eponymous salon, The Club, in NYC) to get his pro how-tos on some stunning styles that we can’t wait to try out.
High Volume Ponytail
KATE BECKINSALE
Tease hair on top of your head and use Moveable Hold Finishing Hairspray to give it some more grip before brushing out. Create your ponytail where desired and smooth out the top toward the area where you’ll be securing the ponytail. Don’t make it slick. Maintain volume. If needed, use fingers to loosen on the top. Use more Moveable Hold Finishing Hairspray to secure hair.
Play the Part Low Ponytail
VANESSA HUDGENS
Apply Actives™ Enhancing Shine Serum all over your hair. Part your hair in the middle and smooth out the hair so that it becomes sleek. Brush toward the back and secure with an elastic. Finish up this sleek ponytail look by taking a toothbrush and adding a few spritzes of Moveable Hold Finishing Hairspray to it and smooth out hair. The smoother, the better. For a more dramatic look, we recommend using our Shimmer Glitter™ Spray to add either silver or gold sparkles, depending on what goes best with your outfit.
Classic Topknot
ZENDAYA
Flip your head over and with both hands, bring up and comb hair as high as you want and secure with an elastic. One secured, wrap the ponytail around the elastic and secure with bobby pins along the way. For extra shine, use Shine Drops™ Smoothing Serum. Rub it in your hands. A little goes a long way. Finally, smooth out the hair toward the top knot.
Wavy Ponytail
JULIANNE HOUGH
Make some waves and create movement and texture in your hair with our Vibrastrait 1” Flat Iron. Part the hair in front and secure with a clip away from the rest of your hair. Tease the rest of your hair with a teasing brush gently from mid-shaft toward scalp. Now create a ponytail with your hands. Don’t make it too tight. Once secured with an elastic, use your fingertips and gently pull out more hair on top for more volume. Take a piece out from the ponytail and wrap it around the elastic and secure with a bobby pin to cover up the elastic. Now take off the clip on the front, part it where you desire and smooth out with the Vibrastrait Flat Iron to give it some more body. To finish up this look, use Actives™ Enhancing Shine Serum in the ends of the ponytail and brush and smooth out gently. And lastly use Moveable Hold Finishing Hairspray to finish your look.
Brilliant Braid
SKAI JACKSON
Flip your head over and with both hands, bring up and comb hair as high as you wish and secure with an elastic. Braid hair all the way to the tip and secure with an elastic. Use your fingers to pull out some pieces around your face to create a messier look. To finish up this look, use Moveable Hold Finishing Hairspray and Actives™ Enhancing Shine to give your braid some extra shine.
Messy Topknot
KENDALL JENNER
Prep hair by lightly spritzing Back to the Beach™ Texturizing Mist. Curl the hair using the Vibrastrait 1” Flat Iron or Vibrastrait 1.5” Flat Iron. Pull hair into a high ponytail and secure with elastic. Make sure the ponytail is loose and hair isn’t flattened out from being pulled too tightly. Split the ponytail into two sections. Take one of the two sections and lightly twist the entire section and add Moveable Hold Finishing Hairspray. To create fullness and texture, grab the end of a fine strand of hair from the twisted section. While holding onto the strand, gently push the rest of the twisted section down toward the base of the ponytail. Pull the twisted section back up to create a “messy” look. Take this first section, wrap it around the base of the ponytail and secure with a bobby pin. Repeat the same step with the other section. Once messy topknot is created, use fingers to pull out some hair pieces around the face line and use the Vibrastrait Flat Iron to smooth out unwanted flyaways.
Pretty in Pigtails
BELLA THORNE
Part your hair in the middle (or try more of a zigzag) and shape your pigtails.
Secure each pigtail with elastic. Once secured, use another elastic about 3” apart from each other and repeat as desired. Use fingers to loosen up the hair in between each elastic. Make it as messy as you like and finish up with Shimmer Glitter™ Spray or Moveable Hold Finishing Hairspray.
Double Braid
SELENA GOMEZ
For fine hair, spray hair with Back to the Beach™ Texturizing Mist and brush the product through the hair. Using a pintail comb, create a deep center parting from the hairline down to the nape of your neck. Divide the hair into two parts, tying one side up to keep it separate. Rub a pea-sized amount of Swell Volume™ Styling Clay through your hands to give you some grip.
Take a section of hair close to the hairline and divide the section into three parts. Start French braiding tightly and close to the scalp, adding hair from the left and right as you go along, working down the scalp. When you get to the bottom section and there’s no hair left to gather, tie the ends with a clear elastic band and repeat same technique on the other side. Start off with your least favorite side. Once complete, spritz Moveable Hold Finishing Hairspray to keep the style in place.
Ponytail With Panache
HANNAH SIMONE
Begin by parting your hair in the middle. Next, back comb the hair that will be sweeping over your hair as well as the hair in the back going straight down. Then, smooth down the top layer so it looks clean and polished. Using the same comb, sweep the hair back into a low ponytail about 2 inches from your bottom hairline. Secure the hair with an elastic that closely matches your hair color. Gently loosen up the top by using your fingers. Take a piece out from the ponytail and wrap it around the elastic and secure with a bobby pin to cover up the elastic. Use Moveable Hold Finishing Hairspray and Shimmer Glitter™ Spray for a more dramatic finish.
